MakerDAO's $1B Tokenized Treasury Investment Plan Draws Interest from BlackRock's BUIDL, Ondo, Superstate

MakerDAO is launching a competition next month to invest $1 billion in tokenized U.S. Treasury products, attracting interest from major players like BlackRock's BUIDL, Ondo Finance, and Superstate. This move is part of MakerDAO's broader strategy shift under Rune Christensen's Endgame Plan, aiming to strengthen its real-world asset (RWA) holdings and enhance the stability of its DAI stablecoin. The announcement led to a 5% rise in Maker's governance token (MKR).

More Than 120 DeFi Front-End Could Be Vulnerable To DNS Attacks

Following Google’s domain registrar migration to Squarespace, over 120 DeFi front-end domains have become vulnerable to DNS attacks. This shift deactivated two-factor authentication, leading to attacks on platforms like Compound Finance, Pendle Finance, and Celer Network. Experts advise avoiding interactions with DeFi interfaces until the issue is resolved. The underlying web3 back-end protocols remain secure, but the vulnerability has allowed attackers to redirect DNS records to malicious sites, resulting in potential phishing and wallet-draining threats.

Bitcoin Bulls Fail Again, but There Is Still Hope

Bitcoin faced a setback on Thursday as it failed to break a key resistance level despite positive U.S. inflation data, which had initially boosted market sentiment. Prices fell below $57,000, continuing a downtrend from June. However, hope remains for bulls due to a potential bullish momentum indicated by the MACD histogram, exhaustion of supply overhang from Germany's Saxony state, and the potential positive impact of future Fed rate cuts and FTX repayments on the market.

CFTC Chair Asserts At Least 70% of Crypto Assets Are Not Securities

CFTC Chair Rostin Behnam has asserted that at least 70% of crypto assets, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, should be classified as commodities, not securities. In his testimony before the U.S. Senate, he urged Congress to grant the CFTC more authority over digital assets, emphasizing the need to regulate centralized exchanges over decentralized finance (DeFi). This position contrasts with the SEC's aggressive enforcement actions in the crypto sector, highlighting ongoing tensions between the two regulatory bodies.
