Attention builders and innovators! The Rootstock & Developer DAO Grant Program is officially live. It offers developers a unique opportunity to showcase their skills and bring their groundbreaking ideas to life on Rootstock. 

Rootstock is a smart contract platform that operates as a sidechain to the Bitcoin network, bringing smart contract functionality similar to Ethereum to Bitcoin. It allows developers to create and run decentralized applications with the security of the Bitcoin network as a foundation.

If you’ve been dreaming of building on Bitcoin, there’s no better time than now! We are calling on developers to submit their app ideas and compete for a share of $5K in grants. With five grants of $1,000 each up for grabs, this is the perfect opportunity to take your project from concept to reality.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the grant, you must be a member of Developer DAO or have completed the Rootstock 101 course  which teaches you how to build apps on Bitcoin using Solidity.

Key Dates to Remember:

🗓 October 21st: The grant submission round officially opens.

🗓 October 24th: An X Space for you to learn more the program, how to vote and a chance to ask questions.

🗓 October 27th: The last day to submit your project ideas.

🗓 October 30th: Voting begins! Projects will be voted on by CODE holders from the Developer DAO community.

🗓 November 3rd: Voting closes, and the top 5 projects will chosen to be eligible to be awarded grants.

🗓 November 22nd: Project submission deadline where vote winners will need to submit a functioning version of their idea. Grants will be awarded shortly after a review of the submissions.

Crypto Markets Rally as Bitcoin ETFs Surpass $20 Billion Milestone

The crypto market rallied as U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs surpassed $20 billion in total net inflows, reflecting heightened institutional interest. Bitcoin (BTC) saw a 2% rise to $68,880, while Ethereum (ETH) followed with a 1% gain. Dogecoin (DOGE) surged 15%, boosted by comments from Elon Musk at a Pennsylvania town hall. Bitcoin ETFs, which reached this milestone in just ten months, recorded $1.8 billion in inflows over four days, demonstrating the strong demand for Bitcoin as an investment. U.S. stock markets also saw gains, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 up 0.4% and 0.7%, respectively.

Radiant Capital Hacked for the Second Time in a Year

Radiant Capital has been severely impacted by a major security breach, losing over $53 million due to compromised private keys in a multi-signature wallet exploit. The attacker leveraged a critical flaw in the protocol’s multi-sig setup, which required only three signatures to execute transactions despite having 11 signers. This allowed the attacker to take control of Radiant's lending pools on BSC and Arbitrum, draining funds across multiple chains. This is Radiant’s second major attack in 2024, following a $4.5 million flash loan exploit earlier in the year, raising serious concerns about the protocol's future.

Trump-Touted Crypto Website Crashes as Token Sale Goes Live, With Just 1.7% of Target Sold

The World Liberty Financial (WLFI) token sale, backed by Donald Trump and his family, launched on October 15, 2024, but encountered significant technical difficulties, with the website crashing due to high traffic. Despite over 72 million visits and approximately 344 million tokens sold in the first few hours, this amounted to only 1.7% of the total 20 billion tokens set for public sale. The project, led by Trump as "chief crypto advocate," aims to integrate DeFi activities like borrowing and lending, with governance powers vested in the non-transferable WLFI tokens.
