At the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, former President Donald Trump announced a plan to establish a "strategic national bitcoin reserve" and support comprehensive crypto policies. He criticized Democrats for their stance on digital assets and pledged to fire SEC Chair Gary Gensler and create a bitcoin and crypto advisory council if elected.
Aave Community Weighs Proposal to Distribute Protocol Revenue Among Token Holders
Aave founder Marc Zeller submitted a "fee switch" proposal to Aave governance that would share protocol revenue with token holders via a "Buy & Distribute" program, enrichening the AAVE token by 9.4%. It is an initiative to buy back AAVE tokens from excess revenue and reward staked AAVE holders to enhance protocol sustainability and create constant demand for the asset.
UK hacker jailed over $900K Coinbase login scam
A 24-year-old UK hacker, Elliott Gunton, was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in jail for his role in a scam that involved cloning the website of Coinbase to defraud over $900,000 worth of crypto by phishing user login information and redirecting phone calls. Gunton was known to have a history of hacking-related problems, including hacking TalkTalk at the age of 16 and a high-profile Instagram account in 2019 that resulted in fines amounting to thousands, plus a community order.
